Parsheni[עריכה]

Parsheni Basics[עריכה]

The title of a Parsheni page is always a citation in the Bar Ilan Torah database. For example, the title of the Parsheni page relating to Talmud Bavli, Bava Kamma 50a is "פרשני:בבלי:בבא קמא נ א". As another example, the title of the Parsheni page for Igros Moshe Orach Chaim vol. 1 Tshuvah 155 is "פרשני:אגרות משה:אורח חיים חלק א קנה". Every Parsheni page begins with a link to the text of the citation referred to in the title. To navigate to a Parsheni page, click on “Parsheni tree” in the sidebar of any page, or from the Parsheni Main page click on the icon labeled "כל ערכי פרשני – עץ דפדוף". If a Parsheni page does not yet exist for that citation, follow the instructions on the page to create a new one. To search for a word or phrase within Parsheni, enter text into the search bar near the bottom of the Parsheni Main page. Similar to Wikipedia, Parsheni has a policy of “NOR” - No Original Research, meaning that all explanations must be backed up by references (in contrast to Darsheni which is meant for Chiddushim). Furthermore, in Parsheni, only links to other Parsheni pages or directly to the Torah database are allowed.

How to Enter a Question[עריכה]

If you are having difficulty understanding the text of a citation, you can enter a question in its Parsheni page for other users to answer. To enter your question, navigate to the relevant Parsheni page, or create it if it does not already exist. Click on the Q&A tab and enter your question in the Q&A template. To mark the Parsheni page as having an open question, add the following string {{תבנית:ערך_המכיל_שאלות}} to the body of the Parsheni page which will result in the following message being displayed:

Nuvola apps kcmsystem.png ערך זה מכיל שאלות בדף השאלות.
ערך זה סומן כמכיל שאלות בדף השיחה. עבור לדף השאלות לצפיה בשאלה. מחק תבנית זו במידה והשאלה נענתה.

Your question will be listed on the Parsheni Main page in the box labeled List of open questions and in the complete list of questions listed on the Q&A Page.

Once the question has been answered, remember to remove the string from the page text.

Darsheni in Brief[עריכה]

This section of the Parsheni page is dedicated to links to relevant Darsheni pages, including a brief description of the topic covered in the Darsheni page.

Darsheni[עריכה]

Darsheni is intended to be a home for Chidushei Torah (novellae). Whereas Parsheni has a policy of NOR - No Original Research, Darsheni is meant precisely to contain original Chidushim (novellae). Another important difference is that Parsheni is written by multiple authors whereas Darsheni is written by a single author. The author’s username is automatically appended by the system to the title of the Darsheni page to indicate its authorship and to make searching by author easy to do. The text of a Darsheni page can only be altered by the original author but comments by anyone can be made on the associated Talk page by clicking on the Talk tab. Consider ‘advertising’ your Darsheni page on relevant Parsheni pages by including a link to it, plus a brief description, in the ‘Darsheni in Brief’ section of Parsheni pages.

Print/export[עריכה]

Take advantage of the built-in tools in the Print/export section of the sidebar. You can use the “Create a book” command to string together a number of articles to create an electronic book. The system automatically generates a table of contents and formats the text into two columns.
